Yes. Transportation from Lagos is included. Pick-up: At my meeting point in Lagosa (details given after booking). Drop-off:At your accommodation in Lagos, or at your car. If you’re staying west of Lagos, we may arrange to meet in Vila do Bispo (likely more convenient for you) or a roadside meet-up along the way — I’ll advise what makes the most sense.

We meet at my designated meeting point just outside Lagos, which is: • Walkable from downtown • Easy to reach • Has plenty of free parking, if you’re driving Exact details are sent after booking.

ACTIVITY LEVEL

This trip is perfect for all active, open-minded people who want a real experience, not a sightseeing tour. It is a physical experience that requires effort, but nothing extreme: No special skills are needed.

In the end, it's about getting outdoors, having fun, trying hard, moving our bodies, and sharing the experience with a group of like-minded people.

All tours are adapted to meet the interests, abilities and energy levels of the group, and are designed to balance effort & relaxation, challenge & reward, and to offer a thoughtful, physical experience with an unbeatable feeling of achievement.

HIKING: TIME, DISTANCE, TERRAIN, CHALLENGES

Usually 8-12km with 200-400m elevation gain, spread out over 4-5 hours on trail.

Focus is on quality, not quantity—We'll work hard at times, but at a relaxed pace, with plenty of stops to soak in the views, hear stories, and enjoy the moment.

Expect some rugged, uneven trails with loose rocks and hills that can be challenging and slow-going, but no extreme difficulty. Some basic balance, coordination, and full-body mobility will be used.

HEIGHTS, CLIFFS, EDGES, & FEARS

A fear of heights is totally normal and not a problem. No matter your initial hesitation, I'm confident you will love the experience. However, you should know...

✔ We will be near(ish) to cliff edges (this is a coastal hike, after all!), but you’ll never need to stand too close or do anything unsafe.

✔ If heights make you uneasy, that’s okay—you may even surprise yourself!

✔ If you have a big fear, let me know in advance, and I’ll adjust the route to keep you comfortable.

✔ If you have a severe fear or a true phobia (even thinking about cliffs makes you panic), this may not be the right tour for you.

OLDER GUESTS

My tours are inclusive and accessible to a wide range of ages and abilities, and I regularly have guests in their 60s and beyond.

✔ No extreme endurance or special athleticism is needed, but you should be healthy, lead an active lifestyle, have good balance and coordination, and feel comfortable with basic full-body mobility (bending, ducking, squatting, sitting and standing, etc).

WEATHER

A little wind or rain is part of the adventure. But don’t worry, it’s mostly sunshine here!

Here's what you need to know:

The West Coast has its own microclimate—it’s typically 5-10C (8-15F) cooler than the rest of the Algarve, and much windier.

Heat? Never a problem, even in summer. Seriously!

Rain? Only sometimes in winter (Nov - Apr).

Forecast looks bad? Don’t panic! The West Coast weather changes fast, and forecasts are unreliable. That’s why I almost never cancel a tour beforehand.

If needed, I’ll adjust the tour to suit the conditions. And if the weather is unsafe or seriously unfun, we’ll cancel and refund for what was missed.

HOW THE DAY UNFOLDS

Every private adventure is different, but most follow a similar flow.

Pre-Trip

When you book, you’ll tell me a bit about your group — your interests, abilities, and preferences — and I’ll begin crafting a plan for the day.

Arrival, Orientation & Transportation

I'll set the stage with maps, stories, and a quick plan for the day. Then we'll drive to the West Coast (about 35 minutes from Lagos).

Exploration

We head into the landscape — hiking, exploring, discovering hidden places, and adapting the rhythm to your group’s energy and curiosity, as well as the unique conditions of the day.

Pause, Enjoy & Eat

Depending on your choice (see below), we finish with a trail lunch, sunset dinner, or snacks and refreshments.

The Return

We finish our day relaxed, inspired, and full of stories.

HALF-DAY vs. FULL-DAY

Private adventures are offered in two formats:

Half-Day (5 hours)

A focused exploration with plenty of time to move, discover hidden places, and enjoy the landscape without committing a full day.

Full-Day (7 hours)

The full experience — with time to reach more remote areas, explore more deeply, and include a proper meal as part of the day.

ACTIVITY LEVEL

Private adventures are flexible by design, but they are still active outdoor experiences.

At a minimum, you should expect around 2–3 hours of active exploring during the day. Anyone in reasonably good health with basic mobility should find this comfortable.

From there, the adventure can easily become more ambitious depending on your interests and energy.

In general, the experience can range from:

Relaxed: Gentle walking on defined trails with minimal elevation gain.

Active: Longer hikes with steadier pacing, hills, and more varied terrain.

Challenging: Rugged routes with sustained effort, remote landscapes, and occasional full-body movement.

We’ll shape the adventure together so it feels just right for your group.

KIDS, MIXED ABILITIES, & OLDER GUESTS

Private tours are ideal for families and mixed-ability groups. I regularly guide young children, guests in their 70s, and everyone in between

Routes and pacing can be adapted:

Extra pauses, shorter distances, or gentler terrain are always possible
With kids, the day usually includes more variety, playful stops, and hands-on exploration rather than continuous hiking

TIMING

Sunset tours are based on the season. Here are approximate times for full-day or half-day.

May - July: 2pm or 4pm → 10pm

March - April, August - September: 1pm or 3pm → 9pm

October: 12pm or 2pm → 8pm

November - February: 12pm or 2pm → 7pm

If you prefer not to plan around sunset, the tour can start anytime. Morning departures are another great option, typically around 9:00am → 2:00pm or 4:00pm.

Summer: Perfect hiking weather, even during hot months.

Forecasts here are famously unreliable. We almost always go out and adapt the plan to the conditions.

If weather becomes unsafe or genuinely unpleasant, we adjust or cancel fairly.
