Adventure Styles What They Mean

Each private adventure is given a recommended Adventure Style to help you choose what feels right for your group. These are based on terrain, remoteness, and general level of physical effort and commitment needed.

Think of these as guides, not limits. Routes, distances, and pacing can be adjusted up or down to suit your group's interests, energy levels, and abilities.

1. Gentle & Exploratory

A relaxed, immersive day outdoors

These adventures focus on curiosity, scenery, and connection rather than physical challenge. Expect to use your body, but always with good trails, gentle terrain, and an easy-going pace.

Ideal if you want movement and nature without pushing yourself.

Typical day: 2–3 hours of walking, minimal elevation gain, flexible pace.

Best fit if you have: An open mind, a sense of curiosity, and basic good health and mobility.

2. Active & Rewarding

A satisfying balance of effort and enjoyment

These routes involve more varied terrain, including the potential for steep hills, uneven trails, and moments of hands-on movement. You’ll work a bit more, breathe a bit harder, and feel genuinely rewarded — but never rushed or pushed.

Perfect for people who enjoy being active and want to earn their views.

Typical day: 3–4 hours of hiking, moderate elevation gain (200–300+ m), varied terrain.

Best fit if you have: An active lifestyle, comfort moving on uneven ground, and a willingness to put in some effort.

3. Big & Immersive

A true expedition-style day

These adventures go deeper and farther into wild & remote landscapes that can only be accessed with effort & commitment. Expect longer climbs, rugged terrain, and sections of full-body movement.

Designed for those who enjoy a physical challenge, and the feeling of really stepping into the landscape — and often surprising themselves along the way.

Typical day: 4–5 hours of hiking, significant elevation gain (400–500+ m), sustained effort in remote terrain.

Best fit if you have: Good balance and mobility, comfort with sustained effort, and the ability to meet challenges with a smile.

A Final Note:

Adventure style describes the character of the route — not your personal limits.

If something excites you but feels slightly intimidating, that’s often a good sign. We can always fine-tune the route, distance, and pacing so it fits you.

If you’re unsure, choose what intrigues you most — we’ll shape it together.
